(WBIMP) Binding, curly maple, 32+ X .250 X .094
Each: $3.70
Curly maple binding. Best to either dry bend or soak in tepid water. Tends to fall apart if boiled for bending, but once seasoned to taste is as good as any maifun noodles. Because the curl is short grain, the pieces can break easily. It's advisable to get a few extras. Above guitar by CFOX Guitars.

Flamed Bigleaf maple back. Like most maples, Bigleaf maple displays great depth and luster, and although it doesn't tap all that great, it does make a nice sounding guitar (John Greven's favorite for sound.) It's not a great machining wood; it's very fibrous and burns easily when sanding, but it bends well, is tough, and will endure the kind of abuse that some of the more brittle woods cannot without cracking.
