At right is the first prototype of the new Fox Universal Side Bending machine. We have a made a number of modifications since these photos were taken, and the latest model is even spiffier. However, we have yet to receive a final manufactured version, and to be frank it will be a while before we have it ready to sell. We will announce it when it's ready.
When Charles said, "Let's make one of these gizmos out of aluminum," Bishop grabbed his laptop and in no time we were swimming in CAD drawings.
In addition to the obvious advantages of hard anodized aluminum's long term wear (and aluminum doesn't seem to char like wood), there are many more improvements to this bender, including the spring steel bending slat sandwich. (see below) And the hi-tech waist caul is self adjusting for speed, efficiency and a low annoyance factor.
The machine will be available with or without the cutaway caul, and it's made so that there's an easy upgrade path for those already using the wooden bender: the same half-pattern forms and heating blanket can be used.
